SECRID opened its doors in Rotterdam in 2009 thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of René and Marienne, who, following the economic crisis and the closure of their design agency “SPIRID,” decided to launch the first SECRID-branded wallet featuring Cardprotector technology. In fact, the first SECRID prototype—“Secrid Bodycard”—dates back to 1997, a time when electronic credit card payments were just beginning to be introduced in the Netherlands.
Today, the SECRID brand is present worldwide, with a distribution network comprising over 5,000 select stores and a workforce of more than 100 employees, including the creative designers behind the various collections.
The main feature of SECRID wallets is the aluminum Cardprotector, which protects cards from breaking, bending, demagnetization, and unwanted wireless communication. The patented system allows you to remove cards with a single “click” for immediate use.
Secrid's Cardprotector, Secrid's Miniwallet, and Secrid's Slimwallet can hold up to 6 flat cards or 4 embossed cards. The Secrid Twinwallet collection, on the other hand, can hold up to 16 flat cards or 12 embossed cards.
The leathers used are of the highest quality and sourced exclusively from Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy), ensuring tanning processes that prioritize environmental sustainability and fair labor conditions. The minimalist design embodies functionality that is highlighted across the various product lines: Original, Vintage, Matte, Crisple, Perforated, Dash, Diamond, Optical Basket, Ornament, Rango, Dutch Martin, Indigo, Cleo, Nile, Veg, and Stich.
In 2010, just over a year after launching, the first SECRID-branded Cardprotector won the Red Dot Design Award. In 2012, the new SECRID Miniwallet won the European Aluminium Award.
